No Joke: The Spirit of American Comic Books

Explore the history of the art of comic books from superheroes to graphic novels and experience a hands-on workshop led by a professional cartoonist. Available at MACC or in your classroom.

The Art Equation

Albert Einstein wrote, “…the creative principle resides in mathematics.” Two exciting age-appropriate programs provide a hands-on experience exploring the aesthetics of math based on the teachings of artist/educator Roger Kukes. Available as an in-school workshop or as a field trip.

Polygon Patterns (Grades 3–5): Geometry, statistics and algebraic relationships come to life! Students will create sumptuous polygon color patterns and learn to use them to collect and represent data.

So Solid (Grades 6–8): Students learn to draw the five basic geometric solids. Creating increasingly complex stacked arrangements of these shapes, participants will integrate art, geometry and spatial thinking.
