Ancient legends warn children about the Abulele—enormous, furry, and powerful magical creatures who are visible only to those who need a friend.  In a live action combination of E.T. and Monsters, Inc, this film will delight both the young and the young-at-heart with its uplifting charm.

The story follows Adam, a young boy grieving the loss of his brother, who discovers an Abulele living in his building. Soon, the two become best friends. Adam and a classmate, Tamar, realize that it is not the Abulele, but humans, who are the real monsters, and risk everything to save their friendly giant from the Special Forces military unit hunting it down. With great cinematography, high production values, and engaging camerawork, this family fantasy feature is sure to enchant.

Abulele has screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Israel Film Festival, the Boston Jewish Film Festival, and other festivals all around the world, and will screen at the Israel Film Center Festival at the JCC Manhattan. The rights to this film have been purchased for an American remake, so here’s your chance to see the Israeli original! Colorado Premiere.
*Note: Appropriate for a family audience, ages 10 and up (who don’t mind reading subtitles).
