This extremely well-made documentary follows the same-sex marriage movement as it fights for and wins marriage equality at the Supreme Court level.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in the USA in 2015, but the fight for marriage equality started decades earlier. This is the epic and surprising story of marriage equality in America, through the eyes of the architects of this historic civil rights movement, such as Mary Bonauto and Evan Wolfson.  Mr. Wolfson is a Jewish attorney and gay rights advocate as well as the founder and president of Freedom to Marry, a group favoring same-sex marriage in the United States.  Many consider him to be the father and leader of the same-sex marriage movement. –Boston Jewish Film Festival

With both fantastic access to leaders of the movement and historical documents, as well as smaller-scale interviews of individuals affected by DOMA, this film’s inevitable triumph feels larger than life. The Freedom to Marry has screened at the Boston Jewish Film Festival and the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. Colorado Premiere.
