Rabbi Steven & Joyce Foster

The Rabbi and Senator Sleep Together: Marrying Religion and Politics

You’ll love it if:  You love politics, religion, and Colorado!

The Rabbi and Senator Sleep Together, through topics as diverse as interfaith marriage, legalized marijuana, handling the backlash when speaking out on controversial issues, and maintaining a strong marriage and family in the public spotlight, chronicles how religion and politics can successfully marry for the greater good.

For 50 years, Rabbi Steven and Senator Joyce Foster have been leaders in the Denver community, nationally and internationally, through their work on issues of civil rights, gay rights, mental illness awareness, and stricter gun control laws. They have traveled to Israel more than 30 times, helping emigrants resettle, bringing Christian ministers and their congregations on trips, and raising money for the Jewish Federations of North America.

Rabbi Steven Foster spent his entire 40-year rabbinate at Temple Emanuel in Denver, until he retired in 2010. Senator Joyce Foster served at his side as a state senator and the first Jewish woman on the Denver City Council.
