The Elaine Wolf Theatre Construction Update – Week of August 1, 2011

Some additional delays relating to the fabrication of our steel have put us back a few days, but this week we will see the building move upwards.

Planned work this week includes a continuation of setting the steel and framing for the exterior wall of the stair and elevator tower.  In addition, work will begin on the new box office which will be located across the lobby from it’s current location.  It will be situated between the theatre lobby (Miller Lobby) and the main south lobby of the JCC (Rabb Lobby).  So note there may be some disruption to entering from the south side of the building, but note there will be no closures.  There will always be entry through the current Shwayder Theatre Lobby.

We are delighted to announce that we have received a significant gift from Elaine Wolf for a major renovation of our mainstage theatre space.  The renovation will include a new balcony, accessible aisle, new stage, new electronic marquee, new lobby, new lighting and sound equipment and much more.  This summer we are working to complete all exterior elements of the project while the weather is warm.  Interior work will begin in August, once our summer program is completed.  A reminder that we are open for business during the entire construction period!!

We apologize in advance for our mess and any disruption this will cause (noise, parking, dust, etc).  Sometime in early 2012, we will proudly unveil the new state-of-the-art Elaine Wolf Theatre.
